At this moment it’s only possible to create an official account through http://mp.weixin.qq.com and a Chinese business license is needed. There is an English version of WeChat as well but be aware that once you have created an account there, Chinese are not able to see or access your official account. Therefor we use the Chinese sign up procedure. The back-end of the official account is all in Chinese. Not to worry we have created a small tutorial that guides you through it right here.
Now lets see what account does what exactly in order to choose one that fits your companies needs. Most of our clients go for the Service account.
WeChat Personal account
This is the account everyone can register as long as you have a phone number. This can be a phone number from any country.
WeChat Subscription account
Is mainly meant for individuals or businesses that blog on daily basis. A subscription account allows you to post one message per day. Also you can provide company information within the account. More options get available once the account has been verified.
WeChat Service account
Allows a maximum of 4 blog posts per month that will have more visibility because it’s a push notification. Also it allows you to create menu’s easily that link within the account or link to your website. Payment options are available as well as long as the account is verified.
WeChat Enterprise account
This is a new account option that is mainly useful for companies that have lots of staff and have them interact and exchange documents through WeChat. For foreign companies this account is rarely used.
